It's Our Time: Men Over Age 50
Monthly Virtual Meetup for Trans Men Over Age 50
Who This Event Is For: This monthly event is exclusively for trans men 50+
This event is free. (time listed in PST)
As we age, living our lives to the fullest, it can still be important to engage with others who are among a peer group. We have long recognized that there are very few opportunities for trans men over the age of fifty to gather in an open, safe, and brave space for conversation and community.
We know our community is diverse with unique needs and concerns, yet older guys are often overlooked and isolated. It’s Our Time is an intentional virtual gathering space for trans men over fifty where we can share our individual experiences in respectful and nonjudgmental facilitated conversation centered around the impacts of our age in our trans lives. Confidentiality is respected.
Join us. It’s Our Time!
Currently, you’ll need to sign up for each meeting individually. We know this isn’t ideal, but it’s a limitation of our current system. We appreciate your patience and cooperation!

How To Buy A Home
How To Buy A Home
Who This Event Is For: This monthly event is exclusively for trans men (18+).
This event is free. [time listed is PST]
Hi, I’m Sammy! I LOVE working with first-time homebuyers and helping people think outside the box in a market like Los Angeles, where many people are priced out of their dream home. Honestly, I wish someone had explained the home-buying process to me earlier, as I never thought I was “ready” due to misconceptions about real estate in general. Once I understood what goes into a real estate transaction, I realized there was a lot I could be doing to prepare before ever even making an offer! I’m an educator at heart and want to demystify this process for my community.
In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of financial wellness, specifically as it relates to homeownership and building generational wealth. We’ll go over aligning your finances and paying off debt, going through the mortgage pre-approval process and how to qualify for first-time homebuyer grants. We’ll also review the homebuying process, including shopping for a home and opening escrow, and then finish with what happens next: protecting your assets with estate planning and saving for retirement.
Open to all ages, and in all stages of life, this workshop will get you the basic language you need to get started on your financial wellness journey, when YOU are ready to take action!
1. Understanding your finances, aligning your credit & paying off debt.
2. Going through a mortgage pre-approval process and qualifying for grants.
3. The journey to homeownership, shopping for a home and opening escrow.
4. Protecting your assets, estate planning & saving for retirement.
Everyone who attends will receive a free 1:1 consult with Sammy gifted to them, that they can take advantage of at any time after the workshop. Attendees will not be required to disclose any personal information during the workshop nor will they be required to use
Sammy’s services.
Sammy Lyon is a real estate broker for residential and commercial projects in Los Angeles. Sammy holds an M.A. in Education, Leadership & Change from Antioch University and spent 10+ years leading innovative education programs at schools and non-profits. Once becoming — let’s face it, obsessed — with real estate, Sammy earned a certificate in Construction Project Management from CSU-Dominguez Hills, started working in affordable housing and commercial development, and became a licensed real estate broker to help more people become homeowners and build generational wealth. Sammy loves helping people think creatively about earning income from real estate, and also commits 5% of all gross profits from real estate to social and racial justice causes. Sammy has also been featured on HGTV’s House Hunters, Newsweek & Yahoo Finance.

Qigong
Qigong
Who This Event Is For: This monthly event is exclusively for trans men (18+).
This event is free. [time listed is PST]
Qigong, meaning “Energy Work,” is an ancient practice originating in China, rooted in Daoism, and often associated with Buddhism. Sometimes referred to as the “grandfather” of Tai Chi, it is more accurately described as its ancestor. The key distinction between the two lies in their focus: Qigong is a slow-moving meditative practice designed to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, while Tai Chi is a martial art rooted in combat and self-defense. Researchers theorize that Qigong may have originated from the dances of early Wu Shamans.
Qigong is accessible to all, no experience or religious/spiritual affiliation required.
Randi first discovered Qigong in the summer of 2023 during a week-long retreat. Inspired by the immediate benefits, Randi embraced it as a regular practice. At the time, Randi had been experiencing chronic shoulder pain for over a year, and Qigong provided relief when other methods had failed. Over six months, Randi began each morning with a 15-30 minute sitting meditation (often accompanied by coffee) followed by Qigong Set 1, a sequence learned during the retreat.
This routine became a cornerstone of Randi's mornings, fostering physical healing and a sense of grounding and readiness for the day. The shoulder pain significantly diminished, to the point where it became unnoticeable most days. Today, Randi continues to practice Qigong regularly, valuing its lasting benefits to body, mind, and spirit, and looks forward to sharing these practices during online sessions.
More about teacher Randi Reinhold:
Randi is a flawed, yet mindful human and progressive, anti-bias educator living in Denver, Colorado. He strives daily to strike a balance between tending to modern society’s necessary but often distracting “To Do” list and his ever-evolving quest for deeper meaning and personal growth. Taking a mindful approach to living honors his body’s needs for stillness and movement, his mind’s needs for quiet contemplation and imagination, and his soul’s needs for connection and purpose that reaches beyond much of what modern society deems important for leading a successful life. Although he often struggles to meet his own multifaceted expectations, Randi identifies with the term “Renaissance Man” and sees it as no mistake to have been presented with both the advantages and challenges that come with his uniquely neurodiverse operating system of a brain. He enjoys creating music, visual art, and DIY furniture and inviting others to smile.

G*d Talk: Navigating Spirituality and Religion as Trans Men
G*d Talk: Navigating Spirituality and Religion as Trans Men
Who This Event Is For: This monthly event is exclusively for trans men (18+).
This event is free. [time listed is PST]
As trans men, many of us have experienced hurt in the religious traditions that we once had a home in. You might have a desire to reconnect with the wisdom and spirituality of religious spaces you’ve lost access to since coming out, or maybe are just beginning your path of spiritual discovery. Regardless of the place that you’re in, this journey into the realm of the religious can leave men like us with a lot of questions: Where can I find spiritual connection as a trans man? Am I safe to be in religious spaces? Do I even want to be in religious spaces? Do I have too much trauma to ever trust a religious organization again? Join us to discuss these and the countless other questions that arise as we navigate the unique position we are in as spiritually-curious men of trans experience.
Currently, we can only allow you to sign up for all 12 meetings in 2025. If you cannot attend a specific date, please just delete it from your own calendar.
